“A Night at the Opera House” with Steve Huff

seal50lux

A friend of mine who’s also an extremely talented photographer shot my show in Chicago.  These are some of the best concert images that anyone has ever taken of me.  This is what happens when you have a photographer who shoots for passion and not really because he’s being commissioned to do it as a job.  I want to say thank you again to Steve for making such  excellent  images and also for administering such an enjoyable  site.  Take a look, if you love photography but can’t stand over technical nonsense (which quite often has nothing to do with great photography) you’ll love his site.

Saw Seal in concert in Atlanta last night. Well of course I enjoyed the show and Seal’s amazing voice. Great graphics too, lots of energy. But as a lifelong pro keyboardist my heart was broken when I realized that almost all of the many keyboard parts were pre-recorded, as were horn parts, backing vocals etc. I know – many tours use recorded tracks in their live shows these days and maybe I should’ve expected this, but given the depth and complexity of Seal’s music and his live DVD (Live in Paris – wonderful keyboard performances!) I expected more than a simple guitar/bass/drum trio for backing. That’s not to take away from the occasional keyboard lines the bass player did, but really – I paid to see a live show and I saw only half of one at best last night, maybe less. Sorry for the negative post here, I really am a Seal fan and I hope to see him again in the future, without the IPod orchestra.

I knew you would come this far…met you in Stockholm, Sweden back in 1991 when you released the Crazy-album. Ive been following your career since then and have always wished you the best. It seems wonderful, your new life with wife and children. Not to talk about your music…Dont know if you remember me though, called you up in a radio-show ;-) Ive always tried to remember that music you played for me…that woman who died at an early age I believe…

I first saw you LIVE in Biloxi summer of 2004 and have been a super fan ever since.

We (my mom & I) next saw you the last time you were at the sold-out show at Chastain Park Amphitheatre and will be there again here in Atlanta tomorrow night! We’re so excited and I can’t wait…can you please do a special southern shout-out to us if possible?!

I must say that I really liked the chicago concert pixs of you by your friend. His shots captured your endearing performance perfectly and you looked like you were having a BALL!

  15. Kathy says:

    Hi,
Saw you Friday, April 3rd at the casino in Windsor and then was blessed to see you again Saturday night at Massey Hall in Toronto. What can I say other than life always seems better when you are singing. Thank you for coming to Canada, this was the shortest distance I have had to travel to see you. For my 50th birthday present in 2007, my boss knowing how much I enjoy your music, surprised me with a trip to Lake Las Vegas to see you perform. That was my first time to Vegas and my first time to see you live. Couldn’t ask for better than that when you’re turning 50. I have an awsome photo of you that my husband took as you were walking past us on the grass heading towards the stage to do your sound check. What was even more amazing was I actually got to watch you do the sound check and low and behold you picked up your acoustic guitar and played my favourite song “Just like you said” Yes I am that pesty fan that always screams out for you to play it. The year after that, I saw you in Washington D.C. for the benefit concert sponsored by Smuckers. That was my Christmas present that year. Then last September I took a trip of a life time and went to San Diego CA. Front row and amazing. I will always remember when I looked up at you and asked you to play it and you looked down at me and said “no, cause it’s just like you said” So seeing you here in Canada was so sweet but now I don’t know what I will do for my next vacation ha ha. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you are an amazing human being and who knows next time I see you, maybe you will play it or even a few cords.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your tour I know everyone will enjoy spending an evening with you.
    Kathy
