Hi Everyone

Many of you I see are still asking questions about ‘Togetherland’.  I feel that it’s important for me to once again explain why I never released it.  In short …. it’s crap!  Yes it has one or two redeeming qualities to it but as an example of my works as an artist, it just isn’t up to it.  I will never release it and in fact, I no longer have any copies of it in my immediate possession so it would be difficult for me to actually post it anyway.  It is no longer relevant and releasing it would only serve to dissolve the path that I’m on at the moment.  There are many new and exciting projects on the horizon like for example, the follow up to ‘SYSTEM’.  This will be what can best be described as ‘Dance, Romance’.  It will feature a heavy Brazilian influence and I promise that it will not disappoint.

I am really pleased with the outcome and subsequent response to ‘SEALSOUL’.  It was a totally inspired record and was my take on the current social and political global climate.  I made it with the great David Foster because we were both inspired and also because despite having lived in the USA for almost 20 years, I cannot vote yet I have a wife who can and three American children who will one day be able to, I pay US taxes but can’t vote … go figure. However I can sing (debatable to some, I digress) and with that voice I felt I was able to contribute to the plight of the people in their efforts to become a collective and to be heard.  The record was made in about a month from conception to fruition.  My heart and soul was put into it and it provided me with a valuable lesson in song structure and the delivery of a song.  Some have criticized me for doing a ‘covers album’ and more specifically for taking on those songs. well my answer to that is that everyone is entitled to their opinion, that’s what makes music great.  I am many things however my profession states that I’m a singer so therefore I did simply just that…… I sang!

Love, life and happiness,

-S

TOGETHERLAND = TOTAL BLISS.. based off the clips I heard.

such a shame these songs will never be released in full… you were finally finding your roots from your first album and then WB came crashing it all down. im not stupid. im a musical artist myself. why would i spend months, years recording 10+ songs just to disapprove of them in the end and call it “crap”? that doesnt make ANY sense, whatsoever. its unfortunate that WB probably has you just saying that to the public because they dont wanna make themselves look bad. i see thru the BS.

take a look at today’s music industry seal. i hope you wake up one day and realize that us fans dont want your music.. WE NEED YOUR MUSIC. the mere 15 dollars we spend to buy your album is petty compared to what lies in that package. priceless.

For the love of God, man. Just stream the whole album, put it up on iTunes.

I snatched 4 tracks off of Henry Jackman’s website, I think they’re great and I can’t stop listening to them.

I still love your sound and cant wait to hear more
just because you cannot vote does not mean that you dont have a voice
shout it from the rooftops if you have to

Greetings Seal.. your work on the soul album was fantastic and you delivered as usual! I couldn’t run out and get it fast enough. Very rich, very structured and was sooooo nice to hear you in touch with classic American soul. More! More! Re: Togetherland, hey.. I’m sure Picasso didn’t produce a masterpiece each and every time. As any artist is known to do, a lot of so-so work is produced before an eventual masterpiece is born. In our day and age it’s that idea of, “I wanna see all the icky along with the good..” mentality that comes along with this information age we’re in. Monet’s day.. a french village somewhere in the south of France, a man painted his heart out.. such mundane things as lily pads in his pond out back.. who’d-a-thunk-it? ..a masterpiece. I wonder if he felt it was his best? Intersting. The difference? We don’t know if Monet felt that was his best work or one of his worst pieces of shit he ever created..ha, ha. Today, on THIS blog, we know how you feel about Togetherland. We’d all probably differ with you because we love your work, but… you are the artist, and we must respect the artist.

    Hello, Seal,

It took too long to get logged in here. The password system STINKS. I’ll never remember it again, my password.

Listen, I don’t know about your new “Altogether” work, however I am still obsorbing your “Kiss from a Rose” CD.

Your voice is enchanting, so smooth, the lyric uplifting, the music makes you want to dance. The lyrics get me the most, so subjective and poinent. I love them. Thank you for the work……the song “You Don’t Have to Lose Your Mind”, yes, one could very easily… I listen to you on my treadmill…love that voice, I cannot speak enough about the lyrics, Oh and….If I could, I would make you understand”. GREAT!! Don’t know what the heck you’re talking about…but again, it’s so subjective that it rings right with anyone anywhere.

I truly love, love, love, your talent.

its hard not to recognise a soulful man like SEAL when all his music offers is a delibration of pleasure and a critical insist on his message rendered through his music. i find myself listening to seal each moment i’m not occupied with responsibility. its very soothing and deprately canning. its never different nor does it drift away by time. as an aspiring writer i try to develop refined inspiration, which i often find in your music. as my role-model i always take the chance to dissolve myself in your character, and perhaps your motivational power as a man and a singer. your work is so much appreciated.

    Hi Doozie,

I think of you often, and have missed you on the Seal forum. It is wonderful to see you posting. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas. I too am enjoying Seal’s Soul album. I have the cd in my boom box, and it has stayed there;O) I have only switched the different cd versions. I bought 2 cds so I could get the bonus song at Borders.

    Much love, Janet

    Just an idea
Yesterday, as I was distractingly watching PDiddy bragging about his new fragrance(!) and his wish to do something in the movies…A thought struck me like lightning…Seal should be the next James Bond. Like he said (Diddy, or whatever his name is) time for a BLACK James…but Diddy has no uniqueness or texture to his personality….But our Seal…think about the dimensions he could bring to this character who is now so flatly drab (don’t like the last one). With a harem of white agents…mostly soviets…(perhaps his wife if that was exciting to him). Just a thought…as long as there would be time for music. I think Seal would bring a new twist to Bond…infinitly “insaisissable”….
Merry Christmas Seal !(You are a natural at acting anyway,!!!!Brilliant)

Seal has the most beautiful voice in the world, both soft and strong. Hearing Seal´s voice and music has brought me again the desire to hear music. My son gave me as a gift in 1994 SEAL, the first cd audio of Seal, because I felt passionate when hearing his voice on the radio. I kept hearing it for the next 13 years untill my son again gave Seal´s DVD with the Paris show, which caught me on fire, being spetacular in itself. I was enchanted by the way Seal sings and expresses himself, purveying the feeling that he sings with his soul. My days have become more joyfull and I walk around with my petdog Billy hearing only Seal in my MP3. Wonderfull. Please, keep on singing the way you do. You and your group makes my life happier. My preferred song is Don´t cry, but love all the songs you sing. Very warms regards from a big fan of yours from Brazil.
Please, when you will be back to Brazil? I am eagerly awaiting.

    Ahhhh,
I have been trying to be back on this Seal website forever. I missed you guys, I am doozie.
I think if Seal doesnt like “Togetherland” it is right for him not to share it, and I think we should let it go.
“Soul” is a great cd. I cannot believe how in love with this cd I am. Songs 9 and 10 do it for me. You can hear the love in Seals voice, and you can picture him singing both songs.
I contacted the “contact place” on this website and Brian helped me fix things so I could join you all again,so if you are having problems getting on here, they will make you happy and help out quickly. Thanks Ric and Brian.
Seal, I love you, and I love that your life is so happy. You make me happier ever time I hear a song, read an interview or see a picture. Thank you for sharing the love in your family the way you do, and sharing it with all of us. You are exactly the man I thought you were 14 years ago, when I heard you sing Crazy for the first time. Very hot and very loving! Lucky Heidi.

    Hello Seal,
I am a new member to your website. I must say that I love your “System” album & your website, as well. You are an amazing and very talented artist. I enjoyed watching your latest interview with Heidi on the Oprah Show. You have such a beautiful family. I adore your matching yellow gold initial disk charm necklaces that you and Heidi wear – “Family Necklaces.” Which leads me to a question: Where can I order one like yours? What is the designer’s name? I was trying to find it online; however, I had no luck.
    Thank you.

    Seal,

Thank you for your post about Togetherland. I respect your views on it and your new directions you are taking with your music. I have loved and still love the music you create. I am just disappointed in the radio play out here in Los Angeles/Orange County. I hear you around various malls and stores, but lacking the new material on the radio. I loved the sounds of System and felt it would have done well on the radio if it had more air play. I love the Soul release and hope to hear some of that perhaps on the air!! Anyways, I hope your tour California soon.. perhaps at the House of Blues.. near Disneyland !! You always do brilliant live performances. I am missing them!

    All my best

  23. raymond1814 says:

Hey Seal! I loved your new post!

I totally agree with the this issue of being a citzen for taxes but without a right to vote.

I also share your opinion concerning the general criticism when it comes to albums made with famous songs. The important is: you made them your own! You still have your falsettos, your amazing voice and personality in each and every song. And I say this because I have followed your entire career!

On the Togetherland topic, if the project didn’t please you, I see no harm in not releasing it. I feel that the artist must feel truly connected and at ease with his own work. Even if it pleases the crowd. So, it’s up to you to show the work to us or not. We trust your instincts.

I don’t now if you’ll remember me, I am the fan that you gave an autograph to and took pictures with after your performance on April first in Curitiba (Brazil). And when you opened the concert with “If It’s In My Mind, It’s On My Face”, you saw I knew the words and sang helding my hand until the end of the song. I love this song, by the way!

It also made me proud to see my country’s influence in this new project. I hope you’ll be able to come back here on your next tour! It was a delight to hear your thoughts. So inspiring! Keep working. I believe that your music and humble spirit are helping people Get Together.

Best wishes and God bless you and your family!

    Ramon.

    Darling Seal

Just out of curiosity I went again on Youtube to see if these people who were trying to use you with the Togetherland record…were still on there. And was glad to see that there was nothing anymore there. You must have been so F…angry to see that, and that they were using your beautiful picture from the System album…with tacky bubbles (comments) with mistakes in English as well, you who masters The English language with near perfection (contrary to me!!)
Anyway, subject closed but I was …angry for you…
Thanks for all you put, the Star Academie performances were wonderful too and the links the other fans send. So very wonderful.
    Be well,

    Hey Seal
I was at your concert at London’s Sheppard’s Bush, and I loved every second of it, I wondered why the songs from System were so different from what you’ve done in the past, but it worked and blew me away
Im just listening to Soul now and I must say of course your going to get criticism having done a “cover album” but I think it covers many issues as you’ve said
Your songs, the lyrics, they always mean so much to me because they are written and sung with feeling and meaning, and have always inspired me in anything I’ve done. I’ll be there at your 2009 tour, if you do come London again, I hope you do

    Darling Seal
Yesterday when I read your post I was in a hurry and didn’t realize you didn’t have a copy of this Togetherland piece. So I decided today out of curiosity to go to youtube and see if there’s something there. There is….My opinion, for what it’s worth (!)…Firstly, if something doesn’t lift you up personally, it won’t do a thing for me…you are like a magnet so if the force is down, so is my spirit when listening to me. Lyrics are so important and from what I heard it seemed…cheezy (is that the correct expression). Secondly, the music seemed good but not doens’t have that je ne sais quoi….that just takes you off when, married to your velvet voice (it is, what can I say)…anyway I don’t see what the fascination is with this Toghetherland. Just ignore the fans who don’t get it. I sure do…like I said, it’s my opinion. Isn’t Paris wonderful…I also enjoy Star Academie …(there is also a less good Quebec version)…Anyway, can’t write all the time but i just had to today….I so understand what you mean now…

Hi Seal The 20TH november in Paris I saw your concert and interview at studio RTL. You are my idol and it was one of the most beautiful day of my life after your concert at sporting in monaco. You are my favorite artist til your first album and everytime i hear you I am moved in tears. I just want to say to you how you are important in my life and how i love your songs and your unique voice.
I was also happy to hear your interview so interesting about your convictions and your approach of the composition of a song. You said that you have to be open When you choose or compose a song and that’s exactly that I feels by listening to you, your music gets my heart.
It was magic and you are magic. I am very lucky to have been able to be at this concert.
You are simply the best in the music world.
I hope to see you soon for a magic moment. Sorry for my bad english.

ok, if it’s crap in your opinion, we have to swallow your decision, but what I heard on youtube make me belive that it isn’t just crap. I still be a great fan of your work, you give us great joy, that’s the most important thing.

Seal, no disrespect but, are you crazy!!!???? The ‘Togetherland’ album is a phenominal piece!!!!! Why are you going to allow those previous execs at WB, to influence what is good and what is crap??? As an artist, you really don’t see how good the work really is. Let the fans be the final judge of it.

Many of us have waited seven long years to hear that album. When will that wait finally cease???

C’mon, some of you fans know first hand that the album is good, post a reply and express it.

    Hey Seal

Thanks for the followup on this issue. Some of us are a little disappointed but c’est la vie.

The only thing I want to know is:
    1. Would you mind/care if Scanman dished out the music files?
    2. What did Warner Brothers feel about ‘land when they heard it?

I hope your Soul music has success and I too am very excited about any follow up to System.

    Darling Seal
Just a quick note. I recently discovered Youtube (no, I am not into computers much still) and since you got me so curious about this Togetherland (sorry to bring it up). Could it be possible to just maybe hear it like temporarily or something on it? I was very fortunate to happen to buy your first cd at a used store, looking for some of your old material , not easily available.
Thanks for all you put on your site, it’s very interesting, entertaining and enlighting. You are a complex, fascinating man and quite unique, as you know. As an artist, you tatally need that freedom of expression in every ways. All you do pelases me, anyway. (and I am not easy to please musically). I would be curious, since you can’t release an album every 6 months (would be nice!) as to what your musical influences are, what you listen to? Even what you read… If you would be allowed to mention groups or names. Anway, you could sing the phone book with that voice and that magical aura of yours….My greatest musical high: My Seal, our Seal…

    Hey S

Like the new site. Pretty cool.

I’d like to weigh in with my opinion on Togetherland. Many people out there would disagree with me when I say that I’m your biggest fan. Your music and lyrics have really pulled me through some INCREDIBLY difficult times. You’re not God or the Messiah but you have a gift that helps so many people. Personally, your song Newborn Friend really got me to love myself again when I felt I had nothing else to live for.

While no one is perfect your, music touches a lot of people and heals them as well. I think we should respect your thoughts and opinions when you say Togetherland is crap. But another person’s crap (that didn’t come out right…no pun intended) may be another person’s gift. I think we all felt that we would finally get a chance to hear it. If from the start you would have said “I don’t have it”….it probably wouldn’t have went this far. Some may feel as if they were being hung on a string. I am disappointed that I won’t get to hear Step Away or Breathe. But I would say that it’s been this long….so maybe it’s just not meant to be.

Have a great holiday season and hope to see you in Texas soon.
