Seal Report (cont)

Dear Vera Blanc,

I don’t normally take people’s accusations to heart especially as I’m an advocate of democracy and free speech but I really felt that this was one exception where I really must take issue. What on earth has all of this misfortune in your country got to do with whether I release a 6 or 12 track album? If you feel as you have stated that you can now “choose not to buy my next record” then by all means don’t let me stop you. You have turned this space into a platform for you to vent your political frustration. This is a place of love and acceptance for like minded people, not the senate. I feel bad for those less fortunate than myself living in third world countries, believe me I do and I am doing my part to help the problem but there are plenty of other websites that will welcome the political tone you’ve chosen to post with on this website.

In short, please don’t spoil it for others and if you still feel angry, then take it somewhere else.

Thank you.

S.

For a moment I read Madonnas’ biografy. And for some parts of this book I was saing: “O my gosh, she is crazy”. But when he start his career she work very hard. I think there is no one job that is eazy. But I think that diferences are that she worked hard for 10 years and now she enyoj in “frouts”. And some of us will works 30 years and never have such (money) satisfaction. I think the answer is one: KARMA. Perhaps in my next life I have better opportunity. I am steel hopping…

Dear Seal, none of my business but I think your specific reply to Vera Blanc was way too hard and uncalled for. You asked for it so,you should have been able to swallow whatever reply you got.And from what she wrote She was a great Fan of yours.

Personally I would have been less offended by Vera’s comments than another one I read, but that is just me. I see nothing harsh about your response. This site, your music, and what you stand for are all about love and peace, and no one should stand in the way of that (as you said, this is not the senate). I feel very much the same as you do on this issue: We need all do our part to continue spreading love and peace and not become angry with each other, because we’re all in this world together and we need to work together to make things better.

For the record, I love “Everything Will Be Alright” and songs of that nature. It spreads hope into dark situations. Whether or not those hopes are ever realized, we need to hold on to them because without hope the world is empty.

    Seal,
Thank you. Well said. Thank you for providing such inspiration and love to the entire world for so many years through your music…I cannot tell you how many unfortunate, dark moments you have personally freed me from—and literally brought me right back into the light! A Valentine Greeting to you and your family full of love & hugs! You truly are our Angel!
    Best Wishes as Always,

    Hi Seal,
Well said! This blog is supposed to be a place of love and understanding. I think Verna was rather disrespectful in her post and I think it was a good idea to respond directly.

I personally think it was a great idea for you to ask your fans for their thoughts on 6 track vs. 12 track albums. Talking with your fans and asking them for their thoughs is a fantastic way to make them feel included and it is the best way to ensure that your audience is getting what they desire.

    Best Wishes!

dear Seal thankyou for laying it down …and keepin people on topic ..! i felt the whole thing “alittle bit “over the top “…and your comments were very Well said!! i do have something to add about your idea ..about 6tracks..first, it is very graciousof you to REALLY WANT FEED BACK!..this is true to your Wanting to connect on diffent levels ..! you seem to have a grasp on where the future is heading for the music idusrty…so if you were to do a 6 track cd …you will meet on a diffent generation of fans ..things move so fast paced with everthing aroud us iformation is thrown at us and it is crazy and exciting all at the same time …i look at my son whos 12 technoly affords many exciting things ..but it also needs us to adjust to the pace ..for example just when conner,at his last birthday recievedA xbOX ,now theres the WE…the way of our kids and our lives are so much differnt…so i asked conner of this Q..6 or 12 tracks as a generally question and of course 6 tracks at more frequent intervals was his take …i truly believe that your grasp on the indusrty, technology ,,,and your savy way of being ahead of the general public is really going to work for you and open the future to other artist …but always remeber whatever you do your fans will truly know your heart was into your final work …with that said HAPPY VALENTINES DAY …LOVES DEVINED !!LOVE WILL HELP ME KNOW MY NAME !!MARCI

    Hi Seal,

First of all, Happy Valetines Day!!! :)

Well, I am from Brazil too but I prefer to give you my opinion about 6 or 12 songs. Is that the question, all right?

I loved the question and thank you for give us the opportunity to collaborate in this issue.

You have a reason about the question of to listen all the records from a CD. But, I think that it is important to have the possibility to choose your favourite songs. And, for this, will be more pleasant to choose between 12 songs than 6 songs.

I do not know, but in front of everything, I believe in you and all the people that works with you.

Today I listened all the time ‘The Best – 1991-2004′ and, of course that I have my favourites, but is so nice to listen all the songs. Because your words arrive in our heart (and soul) in different situations and different times.

If I need to choose now, I prefer 12 songs, but I trust you, and in your heart and in your staff.

    Thank you again!!!
    LOL,
    Karen

  12. BerrEduar says:

    My brother SEAl,

It’s hard to not only put to words the impact of your music, but to do it in a way which can substantiate that impact and in way which hasn’t been said.

I think for now, let it suffice to say you’ve effected my life in ways that only true, pure, and genuine music can and done so as if you were standing right next to me at those times of need…You’ve also influenced our music (myspace.com/berreduar)…That’s true, spiritual energy!

With regards to your new album…I can’t wait! It doesn’t matter to me the number of songs however you are entirely correct about the state of the music business as it relates in and to society. Today, if I were to listen to an entire album at once it would more than likely be one of yours in all honesty. So I have the utmost confidence in your ability to decide what’s right for you and what you feel is right for an audible child of your creation…Yes, I look at songs as the artists children…In many ways if not every way dependant on the song, they are extensions of the artists inner being as is a human child. The reason you, and other artists of your caliber especially, can produce so many of such quality is due to us all as individuals having so many facets within, even if you’re only discussing one topic.

I’ve seen you at The Electric Factory in Philadelphia, and at The Borgota in Atlantic City. I believe my production partner met the band after the Borgata show and told me they were really cool people and that’s no surprise.

I’ll wrap this up in saying, thank you for your spirit, vision, creativity, selflessness, confidence, and graciousness. You’re music’s true gentleman and an example to all of us on how to not only say “Let’s love one another”, but to act on it as well.

Congrats and love to you and your beautiful family.

  13. Glenn Stewart says:

    Hi Seal:

I would strongly prefer 6 songs more frequently to 12 songs less frequently. I had never given this any thought before, but I think I would prefer this from all of my favorite artists. I think most of us have gotten used to an “on demand” world and are now less patient in many areas of our life. It sounds like you are proactively moving in a direction that others will eventually move to reactively.

Also, I would like to add my opinion regarding the style of music that you choose to play. Although I love your ballads, I was so glad to read that your next releases are more dance oriented. I have seen five of your concerts (3 in Atlanta…. Chastain twice and that indoor venue on Peachtree that was like a mini-amphitheater–I think winter of ‘94; HOB-Mandalay in Vegas; Humphrey’s San Diego summer of ‘05). The biggest reason that I travel to see you live is your dance music. The energy at your concerts is phenomenal and this is dramatically enhanced during the performance of your dance music. Also (my perception, at least) you seem to derive so much more joy from performing these particular songs and this energy seems to transmit to the audience. I am curious if I am in the minority or majority of your fans who provide you feedback relating to their preference between ballads and dance.

BTW…I love the interactivity between you and your fans. I am glad that you feel a bond.

    Glenn

    Hi Seal,

    Danke

    a-chill

    NxSG

PS: ok here is the English version ;) :

Do not let spoil the mood from such opinions. I mean, I can reconstruct, what she meant with it, but I believe also that she did not understand you correctly. She probably overlooked the fact that you would like to make the lower price for the “6 Tacks album” and wanted to say that she is not ready to pay for “non level quality” because of the shortage of money. But that is, in my opinion, her problem, I come also from the 3rd world, well and?! If you absolutely want to reach something, you’ll reach it anyway!!!

  16. Robert Sterling says:

    Seal,

In regards to Vera, I do think she didn’t fully understand what you said. I have to agree with NxSG on this one. As for the six vs. twelve songs (since I have yet to speak about it)…

Do what you think is best. If you feel you should only release six songs, so be it. Like someone had already said, whether it be 3 or 50 songs per CD, I’ll just be happy to have a new collection of Seal music to add to my library. Go for it. Best wishes,

    Robert S.

P.S. You know, it would be special if you could bother to sqeeze one extra seventh song on this upcoming album (even if it’s a reprise). Who knows, maybe one you predicted to not be as popular (but just as great) will be out-do the others… In my opinion, all of you music is great.

  17. sea to sky says:

Happy V- Day S! Enough said about Ms. Blanc. Those of us that post regularly, and even the new comers are respectful of the fact that it is privelidge to be able to communicate the way we do with you and others who post. Your comments harsh, NO, to the point absolutely!
Namaste. Happy Valentine’s Day to ALL, enjoy whatever is you maybe doin’ Bangkok…get better will yah!

  18. bobolicious says:

I agree, let’s keep politics out of this site, Happy Valentines, I wish to find a Valentines as great as your own someday!!! Your music gives me hope>>>

  19. Deef says:

Listen. Seal asked a question about what we thought about a 6 song album versus a 12 song one. Vera Blanc’s post has nothing to do with what Seal was asking about!!!! So no, Seal did not respond harse to VB’s post. VB is bringing up something way off the topic. Can I mention that George Bush is an idiot, or am I going off the subeject??? I mean, come on!!!!!

  20. Cynthia says:

I finally found the post everyone is talking about from Vera Blanc. I think she misunderstood Seals comments. You have to remember he is an international singer. People from all over the world are Seal’s fans. I can tell English is not her first language so I truly believe she just misunderstood and in writing back her comments she may have mistated her view due to trying to write in English. She was obviously a long time fan and stated so in her post..

  21. jazzcore says:

Hey. I’m brazilian who lives in Brazil…Vera Blanc’s post sounds like a shame to me.
Please, don’t take brazilians wrong taking Vera’s as an exemple… she is a real exception.
To me, seems like a fustraded person who wants to takes attention.
By the way, she claims that she’s an artist….I NEVER heard anything about her.

  22. Ronald Lewis says:

Here’s something “fans” need to understand about celebrities:

They ARE human beings. They may have more money and status than you, but at the end of the day, they are flesh and blood. They are not the President, nor God. They are FREE — just like YOU and I — to express their opinion or feelings.

I for one agree with the post. This is NOT the platform to gripe about one’s misfortunes. We’ve all experienced hardships and this is the last place to take things out of context. This is a place to enjoy a form of art we appreciate.

I don’t think many of you REALIZE how few artists connect with their fans the way Seal does. Yes, there is the CONCERT, but beyond that, there isn’t much. Like you and I, people have lives to live and a living to make.

The primary reason we’re here is because of the music. Anything extra is a bonus. I only share these things because of my relationships and experiences with celebrities, entertainers, executives, etc.

Let me reiterate once more that Seal is doing A LOT more than the average artist. I’m beyond impressed by his level of communication with his audience.

  23. wrycatcher says:

I’m but a whisper beaneath the cocophony of anonymous souls clamoring for a moment of your time, Seal, so I’ll be brief.

Your music has taken me from breathtaking mountain vistas down to sullen city streets. There’s an intimate, cathartic quality that resonates within me. Your songs are timeless. Surely, my experience of your music isn’t new; nonetheless, I still wished you to know.

    Live well-
    Tom
